Woodland Consulting has invested in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) technology which gives us the power to visualise, explore and analyse areas of land. The detailed maps we can produce using this versatile system are used in:

• Long term management plans
• Grant applications
• Cash flow projections
• Public information boards and leaflets

GIS mapping is a valuable tool which can be used to communicate ideas clearly and support informed decision-making.

		Practice profile The Scottish Outdoor Access Code requires landowners to provide access to and across their land and gives people more freedom to enjoy the countryside. We have worked with Meggernie Estate in Glen Lyon to try and ensure that increased visitor numbers can be accommodated without undue disruption to normal estate activities and with due regard for the environment. New woodland walks have been established to allow the


whole community to enjoy this beautiful landscape and these are proving very popular.

We used our GIS technology to produce large information boards, together with maps and a descriptive leaflet for each of the woodland walks. These help to inform the public and ensure that they act responsibly by including important information on estate activities and how to follow the country code.
