Grant
Advice
There are various grants available
for woodlands. Most are administered by the Forestry Commission
through the Scottish Forestry Grant Scheme (SFGS) and are intended
to encourage the creation and management of woods and forests
to provide economic, environmental and social benefit now and
in the future. |

Practice
profile:
Locational & farmland premiums
Hugh King & Co of Kilwinning in Ayrshire, decided
to plant up part of their farm holding and we were
successful in obtaining SFGS funding on our client’s
behalf, as well as the Ayrshire & Arran Locational
Premium. This local top-up payment was available because
the Scottish Executive considered the creation of new
woodlands in this area to be of special priority for
social, environmental and economic reasons. The company
can also look forward to 10 years of annual payments
through Farmland Premium, an additional supplement
provided as compensation for removing land from productive
agricultural use. |
